Worcs romantic writer releases new gripping novel

Added: (Wed May 19 2021)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Celebrated author Jo Hughes has returned to the Blackpool club she visited 10 years ago for her latest five-star novel.
The 43-year-old from Worcestershire has become one of the hottest romantic writers in the country with a string of highly regarded page-turners.
For her latest book the mother-of-three has gone back to the drag club where she spent a girls’ night out a decade ago.
Imperfectly Yours is a gripping story about a struggling club owner and the bank manager she meets on a night out.
Jo, who writes under the name J D Hughes, said: “Imperfectly Yours is based in Blackpool on the Golden Mile.
“I went there over a decade ago with my girlfriends and had the time of my life.
“Whilst there, I went to drag club called Funny Girls which is still going today - I fell in love with it and always thought I would incorporate a drag club into my writing one day.
“Once I had the beginning set in stone, the words poured out of me and the characters came to life.
“The story evolved with every scene I wrote.
“Within a week, I knew where the story was heading, I couldn’t be prouder of Imperfectly Yours.”
Imperfectly Yours is a fast-paced and unpredictable romance between club owner Ava and bank manager Jack.
Packed with humour and twists, Jo’s latest novel has won a long stream of rave reviews from captivated readers.
Reviewers have described Imperfectly Yours as ‘picking this book up is easy… putting it down is not’, ‘had me smiling and laughing out loud all the way through’, and ‘had me gripped from the first page’.
Fellow critic Martin Taylor added: “My emotions were a riot reading this book.”
Despite Jo becoming one of the country’s must-read romance authors with her four novels to date, the former hospital cleaner admits she stumbled into writing at a late age.
She explained: “I got into reading quite late - I was around 30 years old and on holiday in Turkey when my sister forced me to read The Hunger Games.
“It blew my world wide open, and ever since then, I have my head in a book or I’m writing.
“I loved writing at school and always jotted down thought inspiring quotes, but I never thought anything would come from it.
“Then I turned thirty-eight and thought, it’s now or never.
“So I bit the bullet and published You Have My Heart - including the books that have been published, I have another eight or so to fine tune and tweak.”
