Healthwise360 launches free educational calculator explaining how KwikPen clicks relate to a prescribed dose
Healthwise360, an independent UK health information platform, has launched a free educational calculator that explains the mathematics behind KwikPen clicks for people already prescribed a dose. It is a reference only and directs readers back to their prescriber.
LONDON, 25 October 2026 – Healthwise360, an independent UK health information and comparison platform, has launched a free educational calculator that explains the mathematics behind the clicks on a KwikPen, for people who have already been prescribed a dose by a healthcare professional.
Healthwise360 developed the tool to give a calm, clearly referenced explanation of "clicks" that are often shared online without context, and to direct readers back to their prescriber.
How the calculator works
Users select one of the six UK pen strengths and enter the dose already prescribed to them. The tool then shows the relationship using a simple formula, based on one full labelled dose being 60 clicks:
Clicks = (Prescribed dose ÷ Pen strength) × 60
For example, a 5 mg pen and a 5 mg prescribed dose gives (5 ÷ 5) × 60 = 60 clicks, which is one full labelled dose.
What the tool does not do
The calculator is a mathematical reference only. It does not prescribe medicine, assess suitability, select a dose or recommend changing one. The manufacturer's instructions say each full dose is delivered by turning the dose knob until it stops, and counting clicks to give a partial dose is outside those instructions. The tool page carries prominent warnings and links to official UK sources.
Alistair Greenwood, Director of Healthwise360, said: "People are seeing click charts and so-called pen hacks shared online with no context and no caveats. We wanted to build something calm, transparent and properly referenced that explains the maths and is honest about its limits. The most important message is the simplest one: understand your prescribed dose, then check with your prescriber. This tool should never be used to change a dose."
The calculator is free, needs no sign-up and is available now on the Healthwise360 website.
