RODE LIFE Adds Hotel Price Comparison With Five Booking Sites

Every RODE LIFE hotel result now shows prices from five booking sites, Booking.com, Hotels.com, Trip.com, Expedia and Agoda, next to the member rate, and members can click through to book elsewhere if cheaper. In one Orlando, Florida, USA search, the member rate was 58% below the lowest other price.

2026-11-04 Sheridan, WY, USA RODE LIFE

RODE LIFE, the free travel membership, today launched a hotel price comparison feature that shows prices from five booking sites, Booking.com, Hotels.com, Trip.com, Expedia and Agoda, next to the member rate on every hotel result. Members can click any cheaper price and go straight to that site with the same hotel and dates already filled in. In member searches across six cities in the UK, France, Italy, the USA and Portugal, the member rate was the lowest price shown in five, and in Orlando, Florida, USA, it was 58% below the lowest other price. The US and UK already require hotel prices to include mandatory fees upfront, and the EU is planning new rules.

If another site is cheaper, members click its price and go straight to it, with the same hotel and dates already filled in. There is no need to search again. RODE LIFE has agreed commission arrangements with these booking sites, so it still earns when members book elsewhere, which means there is no reason to hide a cheaper price. More booking sites will be added.

For example, a member search for 15 to 17 January 2027 showed the 3-star Courtyard by Marriott Orlando Lake Buena Vista at Vista Centre in Orlando, Florida, USA, at €59.35 (about $66) a night, against €142 (about $158) on Booking.com and €152 (about $169) on Trip.com, 58% below the lowest other price shown.

“We want members to be confident they are getting a good price, so we show them what another site charges for the same room on the same dates. If another site is cheaper, we would rather show them than hide it,” said Mark Finch, Founder and CEO of RODE Group, Inc.

Members can search hotels on rodelife.com and in the RODE LIFE apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. RODE LIFE offers hotels worldwide. The website is available in 40 languages and opens in the language set on each visitor's device.

Example: Barcelona, Spain, in January

In one RODE LIFE member search on 27 October 2026 for a stay in Barcelona, Spain, from 15 to 17 January 2027 (2 nights, 1 room), the 2-star Hotel Ciutat de Sant Adrià showed a RODE LIFE member rate of €56.89 (about $63) per night (€113.78, about $127, in total, including taxes and fees). For the same search, RODE LIFE's price comparison showed Booking.com at €129 (about $144) per night, with Trip.com at €117 (about $130) and Agoda at €129 (about $144) per night.

Price comparison covers hotels only. As a separate example of member car rental rates, a RODE LIFE member search for the same dates, 15 to 17 January 2027 (2 days), found a Mini class car at Barcelona Airport, Spain (Kia Picanto or similar, manual) at €21.21 (about $24) for the 2 days. A search on Enterprise.com the same day quoted €78.88 (about $88) in total for a similar Mini class car on the same dates. Prices change with dates, times and availability, and these figures are shown only as examples from searches on 27 October 2026.

Rules on upfront hotel prices

The US Federal Trade Commission's fees rule has required the total price of short-term lodging, including mandatory fees, to be shown upfront since 12 May 2025. UK headline prices have had to include unavoidable fees since 6 April 2025. In the EU, the planned Digital Fairness Act, which names hidden “drip pricing” fees among its targets, is provisionally on the European Commission's agenda for 11 November 2026.
