Vietnamese Shrimp Chip Maker Commissions SunAura Multihead Weigher and VFFS Packaging Line
A Vietnamese shrimp-chip manufacturer commissioned a SunAura MH-14 multihead weigher and VFFS line in September 2026, running at 70 bags per minute and cutting giveaway from 8 percent to under 1.5 percent.
HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, October 26, 2026 — A Vietnamese shrimp-chip manufacturer has commissioned a complete SunAura Machinery packaging line built around the SunAura multihead weigher and VFFS bagging system, replacing an older manual-weighing setup that had been running on the factory floor since 2019.
The installation, completed in September 2026 at the customer's facility outside Ho Chi Minh City, centers on a 14-head multihead weigher paired with a vertical form-fill-seal machine for pillow-bag packing of fried shrimp chips in 50-gram and 100-gram retail packs. The line runs at up to 70 bags per minute, replacing the previous two-operator manual weighing station and cutting giveaway weight from an estimated 8 percent overfill to under 1.5 percent target tolerance.
The SunAura MH-14 multihead weigher on site handles the delicate, oily shrimp-chip product without crushing, using smooth discharge chutes and anti-static hopper linings selected after factory trial runs on the customer's product samples in Qingdao. The VFFS machine seals the bags at temperatures tuned to the chip's oil content, reducing the rate of open seals that had been a recurring issue on the legacy line.
Ethan Sun, export sales director at SunAura Machinery, said the project was the fourth SunAura line commissioned by a Vietnamese snack-food producer in 2026. 'Southeast Asian snack manufacturers are moving fast from manual weighing to automated multihead systems as bag-speed requirements and food-retailer audit demands rise,' Sun said. 'This customer told us their giveaway savings alone pay back the equipment within about 14 months at current production volumes.'
The line also includes a date coder, a checkweigher downstream of the bagger, and a metal detector integrated into the discharge conveyor. Installation and operator training took six days on site, with SunAura engineers working alongside the customer's maintenance team.
